Compared to most aluminum fat bike wheel/tire combinations in the market today, you can expect to lose 1.5 to 2 pounds… per wheel. Note that the Big Deal is drilled symmetrically ONLY and cannot accommodate offset frames. Big Deal utilizes Inflatobam, HED's patented tubeless technology for installing big tires. The twin channel rim design provides a better pre-inflation seal by trapping each tire bead against the rim. This drastically reduces the amount of air it takes to get the beads to “bam” into place. For Box braking we’ve limited the use of our Oversized Technology to the V area since the levers need to be minimalist and largely act as a remote for the V-Brakes. To reduce lateral deflection at the V we chose to enlarge the pivot areas and arms while tightening tolerances at their interfaces. We robbed material from unloaded sections to reinforce these zones of high stress. Not only are you going to be more efficient with brake power delivery, but you’ll also feel the instant response of deceleration. Shimano XTR BL-M9100 Race Hydraulic Disc Brake Levers The Shimano engineers have redesigned the XTR 9100 brake levers from a braking system that had been already the benchmark among mountain bike braking systems. For the BL-M9100 levers both the clamp and the lever body itself have been modified. The clamp moves further into the middle of the lever and is angled. This cleverly supports the outer end of the expansion tank directly on the handlebars and creates an additional counter bearing for lever actuation. This significantly increases stiffness and stability, what ultimately leads to an even more direct brake feeling and improved control. So the BL-M9100 is 10% stiffer than its predecessor, too. Of course, the reach of the lightweight XC brake lever with a magnesium housing is individually adjustable.
